The Perfect Summer Dress

I’m partnering with Ann Taylor to bring you style that personifies summer. In my mind, summer is brightly colored, classic, and easy going. Instead of wrecking your brain to figure out what you will wear to your next summer event, just repeat after me. Start with a dress!

The first official day of summer is in June but we are so close! Our schedules are already filling up with summer events and vacations. Most places we travel to will be very warm so choosing something comfortable and stylish is priority number one! The personality of summer is classic, brightly colored and easy going and this dress is all three. This timeless silhouette simply means it will fit and look amazing for many summers to come. If the fit is perfect then everything else will fall into place.

This dress hits you right above the knee and lets you catch a cool breeze on your legs. The color is muted enough for you to style it with other bold prints and colors. My styling is a perfect example. I went for a deeper shade of the same color for my earrings. It makes the dress look even more beautiful. I chose a contrasting green color for my shoes to add some fun and interest to the overall look.

Everyone knows that leopard print is a neutral so it pairs nicely with almost everything. Add in a pair of sunglasses that continue to bring in a shade of brown from the leopard clutch and we have a winner. This is the perfect summer dress (and you can wear it next spring)!

Mini-Me Looks for Boy Moms from Old Navy

Twinning with your little one is so much fun but when you’re a boy mom it can be a challenge to find something just right for the both of you. You definitely want something super cute but it isn’t as easy as “matching floral prints” like you would with a girl. Old Navy sponsored this perfect look and fixed our twinning worries.

It was so nice to go outside of the normal “matching colors” scheme into humorous graphic tees. We all joke about our kids being a “chip off of the old block” anyways and now, we can share that joke with everyone who sees us. Our life tends to be like a dramatic film anyway so comparing us to movies is just perfect. Ha ha!

I took it a step further with a bright white color scheme. It’s no surprise that as the temperatures rise wearing light colors will help us to stay cool. Incorporating that idea with some layers seems to be the perfect recipe. I paired my white shorts with a white denim jacket. I spiced Grant’s entire look up with a matching fun, yet light print. Grant called them his “trip clothes” so I guess they do give off a slight vacation vibe.   If we snuck off to see a movie together we wouldn’t be too chilly with his over shirt and my jacket.

Accessories really bring a look together so our similar sunglasses and shoes is the icing on the cake. If you have other fun ideas about how boy moms can mini-me we would love to hear about it. Drop us a line! Enjoy!

Spring Classics with Ann Taylor

No matter how inconsistent the weather might be right now we are ready for spring and I’ve partnered with Ann Taylor to bring you a fresh spring look! Whether you are trendy or not Ann Taylor has you covered. Spring plaids and gingham are so in right now. You can also look forward to all of the “sun colors” making their annual comeback.

This look came about because I could not bring myself to choose between spring classics and trends. I just went ahead and put them both together. Lets start with the gingham jacket. Isn’t it lovely?!?! The cropped ruffled sleeve and classic fit means you will be able to wear it season after season.

To mix patterns and prints I paired an orange vertically striped sleeveless top underneath. Not only does it provide interest for the eye, it gives the classic silhouettes and modern feel. To help mellow out the prints and pattern with a a solid but bright pair of shorts. To help tie in the gingham jacket a pair if classic black block heels are in order.

When it comes to accessories I added yet another pop of color with these green pom pom earrings. I also brought back my favorite Ann Taylor floral clutch because it connects with the shoes and jacket but, what is spring  with out florals???

I hope you love this look as much as I do but the icing on the cake is that all of these pieces work together, but they also work independently with other pieces from your wardrobe. Enjoy!

Picnic Style with Old Navy

Now that our weather is beginning to be more pleasant, I’m partnering with Old Navy on this fashion post to bring you some picnic style! There are a few tips that you can keep in mind to make sure that you are comfortable and perfectly stylish for your outdoor soiree.

The first thing you should consider is always comfort. I chose the Old Navy power jeans because I know that they would be great to “mom” in. When you have little ones, you will end up chasing them, playing, and picking them up. I’d love to wear a pretty dress to a picnic if I were going with out my son. Do I go anywhere without him though? Ha ha!

In addition to comfort, think about you body temperature. It has been a very cool beginning to this spring season. I am always a little cold so I layered a horizontal striped tee under my gingham blouse. However, if I warm up while I’m out doors I can easily take off a layer. These two tops together are a fun moment for pattern play and the collar of the shirt is a sweet pop of color.

I know my shoes are super “matchy matchy” but thats why I love it. I chose these comfortable wedges with a cute gingham bow on them to compliment my look. I mean, I could not help but to  feel drawn to the idea of a “classic picnic blanket” with I styled this look.

Of course I had to bring in one more contrasting pop of color and my cross body purse was the answer. Now I’m ready for a super stylish picnic. Don’t forget you sunglasses!
