Stripes + Polka Dots

I seriously have a big place in my heart for the colors black and white. That place gets even bigger when I find black and white stripes or polka dots. For this look I mashed up both of my favorites for an easy casual look.

You may be wary of mixing stripes and polka dots but this works because both of the prints are small. From a distance it even looks like I’m just wearing black pants and a gray top but when you get a bit closer you can see that it’s patterned. The top is an over sized tank that is perfect for keeping cool. The pants are cropped and have a relaxed fit as well. This OOTD is a perfect no fuss look for a casual lunch with friends or even a movie. I like to have shoe options so you can compliment this OOTD with a heel or go for your chucks. Either way, you’ll look great. (Headed to work for a few hours? Just throw on a blazer!)

Back to Basics | OOTD

You slept through your alarm or didn’t set it. You hit the snooze 4 times and now you’re going to be late! When you’re in a rush and you need to get out of the house quickly go back to your basics. Black, white, a crew neck t-shirt, and jeans always do the trick for me. I don’t have to worry about matching, other colors, or it being comfy. It’s all so easy and best of all, you can’t mess it up. Lol

Leave me a comment of what you grab out of your closet when you’re really short on time. Enjoy!

DIY | Easy T-Shirt Pillows

I will be the first to say that it’s hard for me to get rid of things sometimes (all the time). I may no longer want it for its intended purpose but I can find tons of other ways to use the same item.

In this case, I took clothing that I was done wearing and turned them into pillows for my son’s room. He has a black and white themed bedroom and I had some black and white items that were headed to Goodwill. You know what that means?!?!?! DIY PROJECT!!!!! I’ve even included pictures of me wearing the items just for fun. (Ha ha)

My friend that has a sewing machine sewed 3 sides, and I hand stitched the 4th side after inserting the cushion. You could easily hand stitch all the sides, use iron on tape, or my personal favorite, a hot glue gun. In this DIY project, the fabric was free, the cusions were about $6 each at Wal-Mart and it was fast and easy to do. Grant loves the soft feel of the cotton and I love that he has unique throw pillows with mixed prints for his big boy room. Enjoy!

OOTD | Olive+Stripes

This OOTD includes two of my all-time must haves: Black and white horizontal stripes and COMFORT! Black and white will forever and always be classic and chic. Comfort for me is nonnegotiable. There is nothing worse than putting on a garment then having to pull and tug at it. The entire time you are in something less than comfy, you’re wondering if it still looks right and probably can’t wait to take it off. It’s best to just avoid uncomfortable garments to begin with.

I adore this olive thermal midi length skirt because it makes wearing a skirt when it’s 30-40 degrees outside more cozy. Pair it with a brown/black over the knee boot and you’ll be warm all day. Top it off with another classic piece (moto jacket) and you’re ready to run out of the house. I’m all about quick, easy, and fuss free clothing and this was super easy to put together. Enjoy!

Transition OOTD

This OOTD is composed of 3 simple things that we all have in our closets ($ Saver). A dress, a sweater, and ballet flats is all you need! I love this outfit because it’s great for the long transition to true fall weather. In Houston one day it’s cool, fall like weather and the very next day in 99 degrees by 10am!

Going from day to night is also a breeze with this OOTD. On a warm evening remove your sweater and show a little more skin. Grab your go to heels out of the trunk of your car and you are good to go.

I would love to see your version of this OOTD! Post pictures in the comments to show it off 🙂 Enjoy!
