Cozy Outerwear from Abercrombie & Fitch

I am NOT down with skipping over Thanksgiving and going straight to Christmas but I can’t lie, I am thinking about my gift giving already. I am at the stage in my life that I want to give practical gifts that will actually be loved and used. Classic styles are definitely the way to go. Thanks to Abercrombie & Fitch for sponsoring this cozy look!

If I were to receive this plaid coat from someone as a gift this holiday season I would be thrilled! This long wool blend coat will be in your closet forever! It is classic so it will forever be in style. It can easily be dressed up for more formal occasions as well as dressed down for a casual day of brunch and errands.

This floral embroidered tee is unbelievably soft and so dang cute! Just like the coat, it can easily be up styled for a fancier look if you need it to. It is totally a next level gray tee.

You generally can’t go into the world with out pants so why not wear the best jeans your butt ever felt?!?! These high rise distress denim jeans are amazing on so many different body types and they fit like a dream. I am happy to say that they are kid proofed. You can bend over, pick up , run with, and carry your kids around with out the fear of a “crack attack.” They stay in place and keep their shape all day.

I understand that you may get these pieces for someone else and end up keeping them for yourself. They really are that great so I included a special pine scented candle that will always remind you and your loved ones of the special holiday times. That will be easier to gift but get two just in case you need to keep that as well Lol Enjoy!

Natural Hair Pompadour

I get a lot of questions about how long my hair is right now and if I feel like I have enough versatility with this haircut. Although I am somewhat limited in my style choices I am being forced to be more creative with styling my hair lately.

Honestly, this length is a tiny bit awkward because it’s long enough to flop down when curly and wet, but it doesn’t look cute. Ha Ha! I’ve had success with pin & tuck styles, braids, and twist outs. Now I’m adding this pompadour to the mix. This style is even easier than the pin and tuck style I posted last week.

  1. First, I used a blow dryer to stretch my hair out. As you can see I didn’t focus on the ends very much because the roots were more important.
  2. Second, I took a small section out of the front and put the rest in a ponytail toward the front of my head.
  3. Next, I took the hair that I left out in the front, placed it over the ends on my ponytail and smoothed it out.
  4. Lastly, I tucked and pinned the ends and Viola! The pompadour is complete.

I hope you like this style and I will be adding more styles to the blog as i make them up. Let me know if you have questions about this this or any other natural hair style and I’ll get them answered quickly. Enjoy!

Statement Earrings + Boyfriend Jeans | OOTD

So you found a pair of ultra fabulous statement earrings, but you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed when it comes to actually wearing them. I know the feeling all too well. It’s the holiday season so I come bearing fashion advice as your early gift.

These unique Teal Fringe earrings are sponsored by E. Turner Couture’s Holiday Collection. They are colorful, big and bold. Not only are they beautifully made but they are the mother of fringe earrings with three full sections of quality material. I will always say that when you want to show off a statement piece keep everything else super simple. That way when people see you, their eyes got to you and your statement. Everything else can be “background” features.

For this look I kept all of the other colors pretty muted to let my earrings shine. My sweater has a lot of interesting features but it doesn’t over power what I want to show off. The perfect pair of boyfriend jeans, simple booties, cute purse, and I’m ready to show off my earrings and cool sweater to the world. Leave me comment about your favorite statement piece. Enjoy!

Natural Hair | Tuck & Pin Style

I have had my box braids out for a while now and because of the length of my hair I have had to become very creative with my hair styles. It is sort of an awkward stage when it’s not long enough for some things and not short enough to just leave it alone and wear it as is.

I would classify this look as a tuck & pin style. Tuck & pins are great for any hair length and every hair stays put because of all of the bobby pins you’ll use. To begin, I blew my hair out with my blowdryer.  After it was stretched, I began at the very front in the center of my hair with a light braid/twist. Once each braid/twist is done, secure it with a bobby pin. Start on the right, twist and pin to the opposite side. Then move to the opposite side of your head and repeat. Continue this pattern until you reach the desired place you’d like to stop. Then use the same left to right pattern to braid out the remaining hair. Tuck it under and secure it with a bobby pin. It takes less than five minutes to do and people won’t believe that you did it yourself.

Leave me a comment about your favorite tuck & pin style. Enjoy!

How to Style a Statement Piece

We have all found that stand out piece before, purchased it, took it home with a smile on our faces, and each and every time we attempt to wear it, it just doesn’t look right. We know it’s not the piece because we still love it! The problem is most likely what we paired with the piece. Here are some tips to help you make a real statement!

The biggest question is, “What do I wear with it?” Most likely your stand out jewelry is either large, brightly colored, longer than unusual, or even intricately made. To help it do its job your clothing should be simple in style and color. Anything that competes for attention with the statement piece has to be removed! Solid colors with classic designs are the way to go. Ruffles, sequins, along with other bells and whistles just distract from what you really want to show off. I even took off my earrings so that this necklace shines.

Even your make up can be a distraction if it isn’t done right. Keep it simple and try a complimentary lip color (As I styled here) to make the look feel cohesive.

Now go out into the world, get those amazing  pieces and make a statement! Enjoy!
