Storage on wheels

This mobile storage unit is heaven sent! My friend and I use them in our classrooms at school and another friend of mine uses it in the laundry room in her home. This cart is limitless. It is compact but provides 3 roomy shells for stuff!

Here is where we got them: 3 colors

Rustic Jewelry Holder

This jewelry holder is one of the simplest D+I+Y projects I’ve ever done. What’s so great about it is that the customization options are endless.

Decide how large you want your wood to be and how many knobs you want. Get a piece of wood that’s to your liking. I got mine at the lumber area of habitat for humanity home improvement store for less than $2. Sand your wood to avoid splinters.

I picked up my knobs at hobby lobby. I literally held 5 knobs in my hand at a time and switched them out one at a time until I liked the combination that I had.

Lastly, drill the holes evenly spaced based on the size of the knob stems. Tread the knob through the holes that you drilled and screw the washer and nut to the back. I used craft wire and my mini staple gun to make a place to hang it from.

Enjoy!

About

Welcome to Authentically B!

On Authentically B you will find the confidence and drive to be authentically you. I will highlight DIY projects, beauty, and fashion from a whole new perspective. Being a part of Authentically B will help you take things in your daily life from abstract and complex to super simple.

Hello, my name is Brandy. I’m a mother, wife, elementary school teacher and life style influencer. I began Authentically B for so many reasons. On the top of that list is helping others listen to the voice inside themselves. There are so many trends and standards that drown out our true inner wants and needs. Another reason being that my husband and I recently purchased a 1929 cottage that required a lot of TLC. While we did hire professionals for the big stuff, we also saved a ton of money by tackling many other projects ourselves. It was so much fun sharing transformations from our home. I then realized that there were so many projects I wanted to share from other areas of my life and now I have a place to do that! I hope you enjoy reading as much as I do sharing.

I love hearing from readers, blog friends, and potential sponsors! Have a question? Have a suggestion? Want me to blog about something specific? Send me an email at AuthenticallyB@yahoo.com and I would love to connect with you!

Sleep Well Tonight!

cropped-cropped-img_9039.jpg

There I was, in bed at a decent time trying to get comfortable. Long story short, I was laying there, and laying there, and laying there. Sleep would not come to me. I usually would have fallen asleep by now.  Before I knew it ,30 minutes had passed and I was still awake. I could not turn my mind off enough to get to sleep. I was actually thinking about getting this blog started so my mind was racing.

Once I realized that I wasn’t going to get any rest unless I did something, I took action! I didn’t start blogging but I did the next best thing. I opened my journal/planner and started writing away. Getting all my thoughts and ideas out of my head and on to my paper worked like a charm. I’ve even typed notes in my phone a few time just to keep my mind clear before bed. Once it was there I didn’t have to worry about forgetting things. That alone helped me to rest easier.

The next time you can’t sleep because you are thinking about work, cleaning, and the never-ending list of things you MUST do, jump to action! Get it out of your mind, on to paper or in your phone, then put it all down and rest. You will need all the rest you can get to tackle that list in the morning. Rest well.

A Keepsake

We’ve all been there before. You are going on an amazing  trip or getting close to returning home from a trip when you start thinking about souvenirs. No you don’t want to get the dreaded T-shirt that you’ll never wear again! Not to mention that your refrigerator is already covered in magnets. Post cards get thrown away and cheaply made trinkets loose their value when they have to compete for space on your coffee table and dresser. How can you keep lasting memories that you can share easily with out pulling out your phone to scroll through pictures or worse, your photo albums?!? My solution for this problem came in the form of a shadow box (50% of with a coupon at a craft store) and interesting things that I collected through out my trip. This method of commemorating  my trip to London was not only cheaper than anything I mentioned above but  but is also beautiful to display in your home.

Start by getting a shadow box in the size you want. This will help you to plan which items to collect. Now is also a time to decide if this will be for one trip or multiple trips. (Plan on adding items from multiple trips if you are lacking wall space) While you are on your trip collect things like cool coasters from restaurants , maps, brousures, newspaper clippings, currency, luggage tags, airplane ticket stubs, and anything else that will make your display pop. First layout the items to get an idea of how it will look. Use a hot glue gun to layer and secure the pieces to the backing of the shadow box. Now secure the backing to the front portion of the box. Finally, you have a keepsake that is easy on the eyes and  you can add to it as you travel to new places. It’s sure to be a conversation piece when you have company over. Enjoy!
