Striped Off the Shoulder Dress | OOTD

Y’all!! This dress!! (And this colorful home!) When I got ready to go shoot this look, we were driving out of our neighborhood looking for a cool place when we saw our neighbor’s home and thought, “That’s amazing!” Her yellow door and art work on the steps made my DIY heart skip a beat! I went to chat with my neighbor and she was kind enough to let me photograph this look right in front of her beautiful home. Thank you Terri!

Amazon is my go to for nearly everything now. I love to order things and have it show up on my door step 2 days later with my Prime account. It saves me time and trips to the store. My amazon habits are not limited to house hold goods anymore. I find some surprisingly wonderful things at low prices to wear on Amazon nowadays and here is one wonderful off the shoulder dress to prove it to you.

I adore the vertical stripes and the amazing colors in this dress. I think this dress just meshes well with summer themed parties, picnics, festivals and pretty much anything celebratory. The material has a gauze feel that makes it wonderful for airflow on hot Houston days.

Anything that allows me to “throw something” on and run out of the house is absolutely a win in my book. I’m all about being care free in as many ways as humanly possible and this dress does it for me. Leave me a comment about your favorite carefree thing to wear. Enjoy!

Easter Inspiration | OOTD

With the holiday of renewal and life (Easter) coming up this is the best time to find something short, sweet and casual to wear after church. Maybe I should have just started with “this dress has two pockets” but it is pretty dang cute. Its cool pink, yellow, and gray color blocked arrangement with a slimming design is all you’ll need. It has a loose fit so eat all you want. Ha ha! Grab a big purse to stuff your kids eggs in and some comfy sneakers and have fun with your family. Enjoy!

Natural Hair Pompadour

I get a lot of questions about how long my hair is right now and if I feel like I have enough versatility with this haircut. Although I am somewhat limited in my style choices I am being forced to be more creative with styling my hair lately.

Honestly, this length is a tiny bit awkward because it’s long enough to flop down when curly and wet, but it doesn’t look cute. Ha Ha! I’ve had success with pin & tuck styles, braids, and twist outs. Now I’m adding this pompadour to the mix. This style is even easier than the pin and tuck style I posted last week.

  1. First, I used a blow dryer to stretch my hair out. As you can see I didn’t focus on the ends very much because the roots were more important.
  2. Second, I took a small section out of the front and put the rest in a ponytail toward the front of my head.
  3. Next, I took the hair that I left out in the front, placed it over the ends on my ponytail and smoothed it out.
  4. Lastly, I tucked and pinned the ends and Viola! The pompadour is complete.

I hope you like this style and I will be adding more styles to the blog as i make them up. Let me know if you have questions about this this or any other natural hair style and I’ll get them answered quickly. Enjoy!

Natural Hair | Tuck & Pin Style

I have had my box braids out for a while now and because of the length of my hair I have had to become very creative with my hair styles. It is sort of an awkward stage when it’s not long enough for some things and not short enough to just leave it alone and wear it as is.

I would classify this look as a tuck & pin style. Tuck & pins are great for any hair length and every hair stays put because of all of the bobby pins you’ll use. To begin, I blew my hair out with my blowdryer.  After it was stretched, I began at the very front in the center of my hair with a light braid/twist. Once each braid/twist is done, secure it with a bobby pin. Start on the right, twist and pin to the opposite side. Then move to the opposite side of your head and repeat. Continue this pattern until you reach the desired place you’d like to stop. Then use the same left to right pattern to braid out the remaining hair. Tuck it under and secure it with a bobby pin. It takes less than five minutes to do and people won’t believe that you did it yourself.

Leave me a comment about your favorite tuck & pin style. Enjoy!

How to Style Boyfriend Jeans

For some ladies boyfriend jeans may be a bit scary to tackle because they are the epitome of things that are not feminine. They’re not fitted, and don’t show off any curves. Most girls are concerned about looking like a slouch in them but I’m going to show you a way to style them so that you look and feel great while you’re wearing them.

Try pairing your boyfriend jeans with something super feminine! It’s an automatic way to balance things out. For this look I chose a red and white floral top with a front tie. I mean, whats more girly that flowers! This works so well because it shows just a sliver of mid drift which is another way to feel sexy with out feeling over exposed.

I decided on my converse sneakers because I was going on a walking tour in Riga. I also took along a long sleeve shirt just incase it got cool while we were out. This resulted in a cool and comfy look that was fit for being active yet looking fashion forward. Leave me a comment to tell me about your favorite way to style boyfriend jeans, Enjoy!
