Green with Travel Envy | OOTD

Holiday season means travel season too! Most of us will be doing traveling of some sort over the next few months so why not look fashion forward at the same time? The good news is you can, EASILY!

My peeps over at Zaful.com sponsored this beautiful matching sweater and skirt set that will make traveling in style a breeze. When it comes to travel, having a matching set takes the guess work out of the age old question, “what do I wear?” The “ripped” look of this set adds a lot of interest for my folks that refuse to wear boring clothes. I layered a thin tan blazer sponsored by Rosegal.com  over this set to compliment the green color and keep the airport/airplane chill away. Comfy shoes are a must for running to your gate so my Chucks were an easy choice. Grab your carry on bag and you’re ready to look like a true fashionista while hitting the road.

Leave me a comment and tell me about you favorite travel attire. Enjoy!

Thrifted Love| OOTD

I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before but I absolutely love leopard prints! This outfit gives me a “clean slate” to put all of my leopard accessories with. While I was out having lunch with my husband a few days ago we stopped by a thrift store. I thrifted this top for 4.50 and the shorts for $5.00. Both of these items for under $10!?!?! So awesome right?!

The shirt is a size 10 but looks great tucked into a high waisted bottom. The shorts actually started out as pants. I have been wanting a pair of high waisted shorts that aren’t too short. I definitely don’t want my cheeks hanging out but nowadays it’s tough to find that combination. This older denim provides me with HUGE deep pockets, a high waist, and adjustable length. Everything I wanted! Don’t you love when that happens? Me too!

To spice everything up I went for my leopard print belt, leopard bracelet, Charm Envy nail bracelet and my A+B necklace. My go to brown purse and wedge heels were the icing on the cake. I just love when a look comes together 🙂 Today is Earth Day so try your hand at a cool thrifted look as a way to reuse, reduce, and recycle. Enjoy!

Easy No Fuss DIY Head Wrap

Who else adores head wraps but are a little intimidated by how to actually do the wrap? (Me!!!) I mean, they are so cute, very stylish, and can fix a bad hair day like non other. I decided to fix that problem for free by making this no fuss DIY head wrap from a T-shirt that I got from my husband. (Go Rockets!) This size is a mens extra large.

If the T-shirt has any print on it just cut below it to detach the solid color from the top of the shirt. That amount also happens to be the ideal amount of shirt I needed for my hair wrap.
Once you have cut the bottom portion completely off you should be left with a “tube” that will become your new no fuss head wrap.

You can wrap your hair 3 different ways and even make a mini infinity scarf with your “tube”.

wrap

  1. Mini Infinity Scarf– Place the tube around your neck and loop it 1 time. Adjust the length as desired.

2. High Knot– Place the tube around your head.Lay it flat around the back of your head and pull the length up. Twist it in one direction to create a “rope”. Coil the rope around itself and tuck in the end.

3. Crown Wrap-Place the tube around your head and loop it 2 times. Lay the first layer flat and gather the other top layer near your forehead to form a “rope” or crown.

4. Low Knot-Place the tube around your head.Lay it flat around your forehead and pull the length down. Twist it in one direction to create a “rope”. Coil the rope around itself and tuck in the end.

I hope you like this simple but useful DIY. Leave a comment and post pictures of your version of he head wrap. Enjoy!

Chic and Tapered

It’s fun sharing my hair goals with all of you!  This might sound crazy but as I’m making progress towards my tapered afro, I’m “craving” hair styles that I’m not even close to attaining like bangs and box braids. Ha ha! Every time I see a gorgeous girl with any type of bang or braids it sends me into a mini hair panic. (I know I’m so dramatic, Lol)

Over the last 3 months I’ve seen a tremendous amount of growth with my hair. I can also say that after having really long hair at one point and super short hair now, I am addicted to getting hair cuts. The hardest thing about growing my tapered afro out is staying out of the barbers chair. The top of my hair is about 3 to 3 1/2 inches long now. The sides and back are gradually shorter closer to my ears and the nape of my neck.

I love this tapered style because it’s a chic take on the twa (teeny weeny afro) and super low maintenance. Some view the twa only as a starting point. I’ve come across many naturals that have never considered keeping their natural hair short. To be honest, I did the same thing. When I big chopped, I immediately had visions of a gigantic afro in my mind. While I did achieve that, I didn’t consider all the fun styles I missed out on by growing my hair out right away.

Remember, much like life, having natural hair is a journey. You don’t have to stick to one thing. Feel free to change your hair as often as you change your mind. Don’t forget to leave comments about your current hair goals! Enjoy!
