Fashion X HOUSTON

Thank you Koh Gen Do for inviting me out to join behind-the-scenes for Fashion X HOUSTON. I was busy with work and life so I was unable to see the 1st and 2nd night of fashion but the final night of Fashion X HOUSTON did not disappoint. It was filled with talented designers that poured their hearts and souls into every single garment that came down the runway. I had to skip out right at the intermission so not all of the designers that presented are shown in this post.

What I enjoyed the most is being amongst so many smiling faces both familiar and new. Everyone looked beautiful and the positive energy matched the prints, stunning colors, and unique designs that hit the runway. Enjoy!

What says girl power more than a graphic tee that tells you that “the future is female!?”

The answer to that is NOTHING! I’m so smitten over this casual look that is ultra feminine that shows so much strength. It is not bright and colorful  but the text on the tee definitely catches your attention. The lace on the skirt screams “girly girl” while the sneakers tell you that “she’s ready to take on the world!” (Or just some brunch and shopping (-:)

As for accessories, I wanted to go with sparkly stones in my earrings to add to the feminine side of this look. The purse and lip color is the pop of color in this outfit. (I had to put the color in somewhere) Let me know what you think of this look!

Enjoy!

Fashion Resolutions | OOTD

It’s nearly February and I am doing well on my new year improvements but I have yet to make any concrete fashion resolutions. I was recently inspired by Bonobos.com to share some of my fashion resolutions for 2017 because they’re focusing on varied textures and the perfect fit for their new collection.

Just like any other improvements, writing things down make it more visible to you and keeps you reminded of your goals. It will be nice to look back on this blog post months from now to see how I’m sticking to my plans as well as how I change through out the year.

My first fashion resolution is to include more textures into my wardrobe. I plan to do this by taking my fuzzy sweater collection to the next level. (Ha ha!) Seriously though, having a piece that is more textured and not just a cotton blend will really help add interest to an entire look. In this OOTD, a mock neck fuzzy sweater with an interesting side slit does it for me.

My second resolution is to experiment more with monochromatic looks. I love this look on others as well as myself, but I find it tough to make sure my “blacks match” Lol Outside of that color, there is a lot of room for styling similar colors together to achieve a monochromatic look with out it matching “perfectly.” I met this goal in this OOTD by choosing a pant that is a few shades darker than my sweater.

My final fashion resolution for 2017 is to consistently add in bold accessories to give my entire look a pulled together feel with flare. The bold gold earrings and rosy sunglasses make this look feel complete with a slightly retro vibe. Most popular sunnies nowadays are super reflective or completely opaque so I’m stepping outside of the box with floral print sunnies.

I’m sure it will be a challenge to consistently incorporate theses elements into my looks but I welcome it!  As always, the details for this look are listed below with links. I’d love it if you left me a comment about your fashion resolutions. Enjoy!

Brunch Squad | OOTD

The weekend is near and with that come everyones favorite weekend activity, brunch!  Who doesn’t want to be apart of the brunch squad? It’s delicious food, day drinking and good company. I have the ideal outfit that will leave extra rom for all the food you’ll eat. Lol

I love a good graphic sweatshirt so this one is absolutely perfect for the weekends. Since weekends are all about being cute yet comfortable, casual is the way to go. For this OOTD, I took a cool graphic sweatshirt that I loved (cute tank underneath just in case I get warm), paired it with thrifted  denim shorts and topped it off with the best thing fall has to offer (a moto jacket)! On my feet are my converse because duh, they go with everything. A nice pair of sunnies for the morning drive and sitting outside and I was all set. The best thing about this look is after brunch, I can take off my shorts and crawl right into bed to sleep off all the food. Enjoy!

Chambray Wrap | OOTD

Here is another OOTD from my trip to New York during NYFW. On this day, all I could think about was being comfortable yet pulled together. I decided on some tried and true classic styles and colors for a day of running around. This wrap top from A Leap of Style is a beautiful chambray color in a flatting style. The gathered sleeve definitely adds some interest while the wrap design is super flattering to my figure. Add in another flattering, classically cut pair of cigarette pants from Steve Guthrie’s collection and it’s a home run.

As I thought about choosing a shoe for this look I carefully considered how much walking I’d do and that helped me decide quickly. I mean, what’s true comfort with out a comfortable shoe? When my feet are happy, I’m happy so I opted for my trusty black converse.

I kept my accessories minimal with two sets of thin bracelets on each wrist and my stitch earrings from Myth & Symbol. My absolute favorite thing about this OOTD is that almost everything came from Houston. It brings me no greater joy than to support talented designers and businesses from my great city. Enjoy!
