NYE with Inclan + Hungry's | OOTD

It’s not often that I have a look and evening plans for you all at once but today is your lucky day! What if you showed up in this fun navy fuzzy dress and wine colored hooded coat from Inclan, to Hungry’s grand opening to Upstairs on New Year’s Eve?!? Sounds like a slam dunk to me, plus you’d be supporting two Houston based businesses at the same time 🙂

The new Upstairs is having its grand opening on a very special day. Join the wonderful staff at Hungry’s Upstairs for a fun New Year’s Eve celebration. I’ve already previewed the space and sampled the food for you so trust me when I say you won’t be disappointed. The entire space is new and beautiful but you will especially enjoy the views Upstairs. If your’e still looking for something fun to do for NYE, reserve your spot at Upstairs!

When you walk into Hungry’s Upstairs go in true style with Inclan. This textured dress is making a statement as you enter the new year. It says , “I’m bold, confident, and ready to take on the world.” To top it all off, the rich wine color of their hooded coat will keep you cozy on the Upstairs balcony. It has two front pockets to hold your phone for quick NYE selfies and the hood may come in handy if it ever cools down here in Houston. Lol You can find their pieces at Sloan/Hall and Azuz Boutique in Rice Village and believe me, you’ll want to check them out.

Don’t say I never gave you anything! I just sat two gems right here for you. Make wonderful NYE plans and enjoy!

Inclán Design Studio

Maternal last names can get lost through marriage but Designer Paola Contreras made sure that her grandmother’s maiden name would live forever through Inclán. Paola is one third of the diverse team that makes up Inclán. And the story goes, Paola stalked Clarence Lee, Clarence stalked Thao Phuong Le, and they all designed happily ever after. (Ha ha!)

They are able to create together because of the unmatched work ethic that they share. Paola, Clarence, and Thao graduated from the Art Institute in 2013,2014, and 2015 respectively. The only reason they took notice of each other is because they were always at school working. Paola knew she wanted to build a team to help Inclán flourish and what better way to do that than seeing someones expertise in an educational setting. Once Clarence and Paola were solidified they then set their eyes on Thao who seemed to have a sought after set of skills.

As this trio continued to work together they sort of fell into different specialties that help make something as complicated as fashion design just a bit simpler. Thao is a pattern making extraordinaire while Clarence is a maven with illustration and technical design while Paola spearheads concepts as well as fabric selections.

Inclán is known for classic design that is “different”. By different I mean ready-to- wear pieces that are perfectly fabric blocked with pockets on nearly everything. Inclan is edgy, fun, unique, refined and most importantly, all the magic happens right here in Houston Texas! It just doesn’t get much better that that.

Spending time at the Inclán Studio has taught me much more about the design process than I’ve ever known. It was crazy fun, team oriented and I can’t wait to go back! Now that you’re smitten like I am, you can get Inclan online, at Azuz Boutique and Sloan Hall. Enjoy!

Runway Houston 5

Runway Houston 5 was held at the Citadel on Kirby and it was an absolute delight! The proceeds from the night went to benefit Houston Children Give Back and Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Although Omar Marcos has organized this event several times before, this was my first year to attend and it left me wishing I had gone in previous years. Special guest host Hunter Bell was charming as she explained how her recent move to Houston has given her a new found love for deep fried Oreo’s.

Runway Designers for the evening included Candice Cuoco (House of Ccuoco), Aries Milan (Kate Mills Pretty) , Joyce Echols (Joyce Echols), Paola Contreras (Inclan), and Nancy Nguyen (Nhi Nguyen). It was very pleasing to the eye to such such well made clothing from some many aesthetics and points of view. (See photos below)

There were several unique art installations from various artist including Fariba Abedin, Kelly Devine,Isrel Fonseca, Joubair Joubert, and Taft McWhorter. The common area was adorned with beautiful eye catching pieces and well as some art inspired garments.

I could try to explain how amazing the evening was in words but the photos will do a better job. One of the aspects I value most about runway shows are the countless staff members that come together to make it go off without a hitch. I captured some brilliant behind-the-scenes photos from that night for you! 🙂 After seeing this, I know you will put Runway Houston on your calendar next year. Share, comment, and enjoy!
